Carbon Reduction Plan
Prepared in accordance with PPN 006 (formerly PPN 06/21)
Supplier name: Medrio, Inc.
Publication date: August 9, 2026
Commitment to Achieving Net Zero
Medrio, Inc. is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.
As a fully remote software provider, our operational footprint is small by design. We have no offices, no company-owned vehicles, and no on-site fuel use. Our emissions arise almost entirely from employee homeworking, business travel, and the cloud infrastructure that hosts our platform. This plan sets our baseline and the actions we are taking to reduce those emissions on a pathway to Net Zero.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases released before the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.
Baseline year: 2025
Emissions source | Total (tCO2e) |
Scope 1 (direct: owned vehicles, on-site fuel) | 0 |
Scope 2 (purchased electricity for offices) | 0 |
Scope 3 (required subset, see breakdown below) | 140 |
Total | 140 |
Scope 3 breakdown (required subset under PPN 006):
Emissions source | Total (tCO2e) |
Cat 4: Upstream transportation & distribution | <1 |
Cat 5: Waste generated in operations | <1 |
Cat 6: Business travel | 71 |
Cat 7: Employee commuting (incl. homeworking) | 68 |
Cat 9: Downstream transportation & distribution | <1 |
Total Scope 3 (required subset) | 140 |
Figures are estimates for our first reporting year, calculated using the UK Government (DESNZ/DEFRA) greenhouse gas conversion factors and the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard. Business travel is estimated from known conference and team-meeting schedules; homeworking is estimated from headcount across the US, Canada, and the UK using published homeworking emission factors. Cloud hosting (Google Cloud) falls under Scope 3 Category 1, which is not a required reporting category until April 2027; we intend to report it using the Google Cloud Carbon Footprint tool. On a market-based method this is expected to be close to zero given Google’s renewable-energy matching.
Current Emissions Reporting
Reporting year: 2025
As this is Medrio’s first Carbon Reduction Plan, the current reporting year is the same as the baseline year. Emissions will be reported annually against the 2025 baseline in future updates to this plan.
Emissions source | Total (tCO2e) |
Scope 1 (direct: owned vehicles, on-site fuel) | 0 |
Scope 2 (purchased electricity for offices) | 0 |
Scope 3 (required subset, see breakdown below) | 140 |
Total | 140 |
Emissions Reduction Targets
To continue our progress toward Net Zero, Medrio has adopted the following carbon reduction targets.
We project that our total carbon emissions will decrease from a 2025 baseline of 140 tCO2e to approximately 119 tCO2e by 2030, a reduction of 15%, achieved primarily through reduced and more efficient business travel.
Medrio commits to reaching Net Zero emissions by 2050, with progress reported annually in updates to this plan.
Carbon Reduction Projects
The following environmental management measures and projects have been adopted or are planned. As a company at the start of formal carbon accounting, we have prioritized measurement and the reduction levers most material to a remote SaaS business.
Completed:
• Fully remote operating model, eliminating office energy use and commuting-related emissions.
• Platform hosted on Google Cloud, which operates on renewable-energy matching and has its own Net Zero commitments.
• Formal carbon accounting adopted in 2025 as the foundation for future reductions.
Planned:
• Travel policy favoring rail over short-haul flights, matching local employees to local industry events, and virtual attendance where practical, keeping business travel low.
• Adoption of the Google Cloud Carbon Footprint tool to measure and report hosting emissions ahead of the April 2027 requirement.
• Employee guidance on lower-carbon home-working (energy-efficient equipment and renewable tariffs where available).
Declaration and Sign Off
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 006 and the associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.
Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard, and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting.
Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard.
